Frequently Asked Questions

How is the balloon steered?

It's not! Some directional control is possible by ascending or descending into air currents going in different directions. The pilot can raise or lower the balloon by controlling the temperature inside the balloon.

Where do we land?

We land in fields, yards, farms, parking lots, and sometimes a driveway or two -- all with landowner permission.

How do we get back to the launch field?

A chase vehicle with the trailer will always follow the balloon during the flight. The crew will obtain permission from landowners to land, help pack the balloon, and will accompany the pilot and passengers back to the launch site.

Can I bring a camera?

YES! Bring your camera and camcorder!!

How big is the balloon?

Balloons range in size from as small as 30,000 cu ft that carry only the pilot to as big as 300,000 cu ft that carry a pilot and 12 or more passengers.

Our balloons are 90,000 and 105,000 cu feet and we carry four passengers plus the pilot, although we do offer exclusive flights if you prefer a more personal experience. For comparison 90,000 cu ft is equal to 90,000 soccer balls. Both balloons stand approximately 70 feet tall.

How high do balloons fly?

Typically a flight is anywhere from right above tree tops to approximately 2,000 feet.
